The most fundamental questions here are: How do we create peace in a region devastated by years of conflict and violence? What are the concrete steps that we can take to engage youth in reconciliation, to give them the opportunity and skills to create a new future for Africa?

Home for Street Children

Amani Africa currently operates a home for street children in the Nyamirambo neighborhood in Kigali. All of the young residents are orphans who had been living on the streets before coming to the Nyamirambo Home for Children.

Amani Africa also pays for all of the children at the Nyamirambo Home to attend the local public school. All of the kids are doing well in school, and each exhibits significant personal growth and healing. Eager for a sense of security and belonging, the children have bonded together as a family and take care of each other.

A small staff supervises the children, and Charles and Gasana personally ensure that the Nyamirambo Home is a nurturing and inclusive environment, in keeping with the themes of Amani Africa.

Unfortunately, we have been forced to turn away other street children who come to live to the center. Amani Africa hopes to rent another facility for more children once the necessary funds have been raised, and in particular, we are eager to open a home to host girls.
